Karsan is charging into the UK market with its electric e-JEST, the latest step in its global push for greener public transport. Following success in Europe, North America and Japan, the UK is the latest destination for Karsan’s pioneering zero-emission minibuses.

Already a leader in its segment in Europe for four years running, the right-hand drive e-JEST was recently launched in the UK at Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham. This compact electric vehicle is perfect for cities needing a modern, efficient transport solution.
What’s So Special About the e-JEST?
The e-JEST isn’t your average minibus. It’s a game-changer for cities that need a versatile, eco-friendly solution for busy routes. The vehicle’s compact size means it can navigate tight corners and narrow streets with ease – perfect for historic city centres where larger buses struggle to go. But don’t be fooled by its small stature. The e-JEST comfortably seats 17 passengers, making it the ideal vehicle for peak hours, and its low running costs mean it also excels as a shuttle when traffic dies down.
Designed for efficiency, this electric beauty is powered by a 135 kW motor from BMW, with an 88 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 210 kilometres on a single charge. That means fewer charging breaks and more time spent on the road, making the e-JEST not just an environmentally friendly choice but a practical one too. Fast charging is a breeze, taking just one hour to power up, while a full overnight charge at home will get it ready for the next day’s shift.
Karsan’s Big Move Into the UK
After a stellar track record in Europe, Karsan is taking the leap into the UK market, with the e-JEST launching at Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham. This marks another milestone in Karsan’s strategy to make a global impact with its zero-emission vehicles. The UK is just the second right-hand drive market to get the e-JEST, following Japan’s successful launch late last year. From there, Karsan’s sights are set on Malta and Australia – proof that this isn’t just a flash in the pan but a serious global expansion.
Deniz Çetin, Karsan’s Chief Commercial Officer, explains why the e-JEST is perfect for the UK:
“Karsan e-JEST has been a top performer in Europe for four years. After our success in Japan and North America, we’re thrilled to bring it to the UK and Ireland. With its efficient design, it’s the perfect solution for city transport. Our next targets are Malta and Australia.”
Karsan and EVM’s UK Partnership
Karsan has partnered with EVM to bring the e-JEST to the UK and Ireland – and EVM’s CEO Danny McGee couldn’t be more excited about the collaboration:
“The Karsan e-JEST aligns perfectly with EVM’s commitment to greener, more efficient travel. We’re excited to bring this innovative electric bus to the UK and power the future of urban mobility.”
EVM’s experience in the UK market will ensure the e-JEST gets the attention it deserves. Together, they’re on a mission to electrify city streets and drive the shift towards greener, more efficient urban transport.

Why the e-JEST is a Game Changer for Cities
The e-JEST is more than just a pretty face – it’s a practical solution to some of the biggest problems facing urban transport today. Its compact size means it’s ideal for navigating tight spaces and serving areas where bigger buses just don’t fit. Whether it’s for shuttle routes during off-peak hours or connecting smaller areas to larger transport networks during busy times, the e-JEST gets the job done. Plus, it’s packed with the latest tech, including a touchscreen display, a fully digital dashboard, and Wi-Fi-ready infrastructure for a passenger experience that feels more like a car ride than a bus journey.
On top of all that, the e-JEST is a low-cost alternative for businesses looking to reduce operational costs during less busy hours. In cities where large vehicles often go unused at night, the e-JEST offers a nimble, efficient solution that keeps things moving even when passenger demand is low. With its regenerative braking system, it’s also designed to save energy where it counts, giving cities even more reason to go electric.
What’s Next for Karsan?
Karsan is just getting started. With its sights firmly set on becoming a global player in electric public transport, the company is rapidly expanding its footprint. From the streets of Europe to North America and Japan, Karsan is proving that electric transport isn’t just the future – it’s happening right now. The e-JEST is leading the way, offering cities a sustainable, cost-effective, and flexible solution to their transport needs. And with the UK and Ireland on board, Karsan’s electric revolution is only just beginning.
