Greater Manchester Bus Services Back in the Hands of the People

Greater Manchester has taken a bold step in public transport, completing the historic re-regulation of its bus network. This milestone, the first in England in 40 years, represents a seismic shift in how the city-region connects its communities, promotes sustainability and drives economic growth. The transformation is part of the Bee Network, an ambitious vision for a fully integrated, “London-style” public transport system by 2025.

Free Christmas Day Buses Across Merseyside Return for 2024

Alright, let’s rewind. Back in 2010, when I first launched the Merseyside Bus Blog, I was all about the nitty-gritty—the bus routes, timetables and the little details that make our transport system tick. Over the years, though, the blog’s evolved. My focus has broadened, but today, I’m taking it back to where it all began—to those small but meaningful details that make my local transport system work.

A Stagecoach bus is parked at a bus stop on a road. The bus is white with blue and green accents. A driver is visible inside. The street is lined with a stone wall and leafless trees. The road markings read bus stop.

They’re for the unsung heroes—those doing their rounds in hospitals, those visiting loved ones in care homes, or those who need a bit of space from the chaos.
