Greater Manchester Bus Services Back in the Hands of the People

Image
Greater Manchester has taken a bold step in public transport, completing the historic re-regulation of its bus network. This milestone, the first in England in 40 years, represents a seismic shift in how the city-region connects its communities, promotes sustainability and drives economic growth. The transformation is part of the Bee Network, an ambitious vision for a fully integrated, “London-style” public transport system by 2025.

Stagecoach Offers Free Travel for Armed Forces on Armed Forces Day

In a heartfelt tribute to the Armed Forces community, Stagecoach has announced free travel on its bus and tram services (excluding Megabus, TFL, and the Bee network) across the UK on Armed Forces Day. This initiative, scheduled for Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June, extends to serving personnel in uniform, individuals carrying a military ID card, and veterans proudly displaying a medal or veteran’s badge.

Armed Forces Day Celebration

Armed Forces Day, celebrated on Saturday 29th June, is a time for the public to show appreciation for the men and women of the Armed Forces community, including serving troops, Service families, veterans, and cadets.

Details of Free Travel

Stagecoach bus companies nationwide will offer free travel on both Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June to serving personnel in uniform, those carrying a military ID card, and veterans with a medal or veteran’s badge.

Commitment on Remembrance Days

Additionally, Stagecoach provides free bus travel annually for veterans and military personnel on Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Support from Stagecoach’s Veterans Network

The initiative is supported by Stagecoach’s employee-led Veterans Network, established to unite colleagues in advocating for change, raising awareness, and influencing business decisions to strengthen the company.

Armed Forces Covenant Membership

Since March 2015, Stagecoach has been a proud member of the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the invaluable contributions of serving personnel, regular and reservists, veterans, and military families to the nation and businesses nationwide.

“We are extremely proud and honoured to confirm free travel for all serving personnel, veterans, and cadets on the 29th and 30th June throughout the UK. This is our ongoing commitment to the wider armed forces community and a privilege to honour those serving personnel, veterans, cadets, and their families. This is the least we could do to honour those that serve and represent the armed forces community.”
